A message from Ailsa, President of Mothers’ Union

I was sad to have missed the Parish Annual Meeting; however, I had the great pleasure of attending my first meeting of the Executive of Anglican Mothers’ Union Australia, held at the Santa Teresa Spirituality Centre in Ormiston.

In 2026, we celebrate 150 years since the Mothers’ Union was founded in England by Mary Sumner. Since its beginnings, the organisation has grown to over 4 million members across 84 countries worldwide. Our weekend meeting provided valuable time to prayerfully plan our goals and actions for the next three years, focusing on strengthening and growing Mothers’ Union here in Australia so that we may continue working to improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities both locally and globally.

Last Tuesday, three Mothers’ Union members from the Manly and Wynnum Branch attended the Diocesan Council meeting in the city. During the meeting, bursary certificates from the Mothers’ Union were presented to two candidates currently preparing for ordination, to assist with the costs of their final year of study. The candidates shared something of their faith journeys with those present, and it was inspiring to hear of their commitment to the path they have chosen.

Please pray for the work of Mothers’ Union here on the Bayside and around the world.
