MU World Wide Gathering South Africa
The Mothers’ Union Worldwide Gathering for the 150th anniversary is taking place in Durban, South Africa, running from September 30 to October 3, 2026.
This once-in-a-generation event brings together over 2,500 members from across the globe to celebrate a century and a half of community service, faith, and global fellowship. There are seven attending from Queensland which includes one from north Queensland and one from Rockhampton diocese. There are also quite a few more from other parts of Australia attending.
Mothers’ Union includes 84 countries, and over 4 million members worldwide! What an extraordinary achievement and what a legacy Mary Sumner has left behind! I wonder if, all those years ago, she ever imagined that her little group would grow into something so magical.
Recycling Tally for September
Isobel reports that the total recycling for September was $29.80. The total for the year is currently $243.40.

Thought for the week (from Mothers Union Australia) – Peace
‘Bear with one another and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.’ (Colossians 3:13)
The place where we ought to see forgiveness on display especially in the fellowship of Christians whether at church or in the home. The forgiveness of the Lord has been granted to us; thus, we should also forgive. It also means that we should be willing to apologise and show repentance when we have offended. It is strange to go to a church where the cross is the chief symbol, and the Holy Communion is the chief meal and to come across division and antagonism and even slander. The church ought to be a loving community, as God so loved the world.
Question for thought: Is my church a loving community?
