LinC Church Services Network (Bayside)

My introduction to LINC Bayside happened in November last year when I asked retiring Board Member Helen Collins what was LinC? She was delighted I asked and invited me along to a meeting the following Saturday. It just happened to be the Annual General Meeting, and before I realised what was happening, I was voted in as St Paul’s representative and LinC’s newest Board member. We all acknowledged the wonderful contribution Helen had made over the previous 26 years and then I was welcomed aboard to take her place.
So, what is LinC? Love in the name of Christ’s mission is to mobilise local Christians to work together across denominational lines to meet people in our community at their point of practical need. LinC is governed by a board of representatives from local supporting fellowships. There is a national level organisation, LinC National, which supports LinC in nine neighbourhood regions across Australia.
LinC is not a para-church organisation. It assists in training and equipping volunteers to support the local community. LinC volunteers may be able to assist with transport to and from medical and dental appointments, hospitals, shopping centres and chemists, in-home visitation and friendship and light home maintenance. There is a telephone operating centre at Wynnum Manly Alliance Church who distributes the requests to the register of volunteers.
LinC is funded by local churches, our grateful clients and some government and community agencies. Should you wish to help with a donation please contact Wendy Grech at the local office.

Mothers Union
Members held their August meeting last Tuesday. Everyone is invited to our September meeting on Tuesday 22nd September. Our guest speaker will be Marcia Fife from an organisation called Hope In a Suitcase. (HIASC). The following is copied from their website.
“Hope in a Suitcase is a non-profit organisation run entirely by passionate and dedicated volunteers and through donations of new items from the community, and the generosity of groups and corporations. Since its beginning in 2018, the charity has grown to be able to provide suitcases for children going into foster care or out-of-home care, throughout NSW, Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania.”
We will be collecting items that Marcia has advised are always needed – Baby bottles and Bibs, Baby toys from newborn to 2 years of age.Baby soap or wash, Baby blankets, Baby onesies from newborn to 2 years. Also items for teens such as hair brushes, soap dishes, pyjamas.
