Hope in a Suitcase Presentation
At the September Mothers’ Union meeting on Tuesday we had a guest presentation from Marcia Fife from Gold Coast Hope in a Suitcase. It was fabulous to have Marcia and her colleague Sue attend the meeting to receive the items collected over the past few weeks that will assist with filling suitcases for young people entering out-of-home care.
Marcia told us the beginnings of the charity and her role in supporting the Gold Coast and southern Brisbane. She also outlined how the suitcase requests are made through case workers, child protection, health works, teachers and police.
Our planned 150 items to donate (in honour of the 150 year anniversary of MU) was doubled which was gratefully received. Thank you to those who supported us reaching this target. Drop off locations for additional or future donations are listed on the Hope in a Suitcase website
Men’s Group Dinner
The St Peter’s and St Paul’s Men’s group meet for a chat and bible study every Wednesday, gathering at St Peter’s hall around 7.30pm. The conversation can be quite wide ranging but always includes passages from the bible.
When there is a fifth Wednesday in the month, they relocate to a local restaurant to share a meal and enjoy a more relaxed time together. On these occasions we encourage wives, partners and friends to come along.
