MU Light Shines for Christian Unity

Manly Wynnum MU Regroups – A bitter sweet moment last week as Manly Wynnum MU held an extraordinary gathering to celebrate with Rev Andrew one last time and ring in the new year.

It was fitting to use the resources from the MU Prayer Dairy and the World Council of Churches for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The service has a focus on the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea and of course the Nicene Prayer.

A poignant moment was the blessing of the special stole—a work in progress—with the MU symbols. Rev Andrew is so chuffed to have been part of the story and joyful at being able to hand it over to Fr Sam as a sign of his continuation of ministry with MU in the year ahead. Rev Andrew was also delighted to take away some MU diaries as gifts to the MU ladies down south.

Lovely stories were shared over morning tea, including the re-emergence of a beautiful silver vase that was given in loving memory of Joan McDonnell of Mothers Union in 1963. Memories of our faithful past inspire us in our journey into the future!
